Sustaining the Globe Series: Building a Circular Economy: Reducting Landfills, Sharing Profits
In this Sustaining the Globe Series hosted by the College's Center for Global education, Jonathan Pereira, executive director of The Plant of Chicago, will give a talk at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1. He will explain the workings of this nonprofit collaborative community of small food businesses designed to be a net-zero, closed-loop system in Chicago's Back of the Yards neighborhood. This "living laboratory" is exploring how to close waste, energy and material loops, essentially allowing businesses to be powered by their own waste.
