MLK Week Prayer Breakfast
North Central College will host its annual MLK Week Prayer Breakfast at 7 a.m. Monday, Jan. 18, in the College's Harold and Eva White Activities Center, 325 E. Benton Ave. North Central alumnus William "Bill" Davis, Class of 1971, will be the keynote speaker for the Prayer Breakfast. Admission is free. Davis majored in psychology and went on to become a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, starting his social service career for Lutheran Child and Family Services at Lutherbrook Children's Center as a therapist in residential treatment for latency-aged children and their families. He's led a varied career as a foster care supervisor, a therapist in the sex offender foster care program at ChildServ, where he initiated a department called Therapeutic Foster Care, the department of Licensing and Adoptions, the Foster Grandparent Program and was director of various teams. Since 2005, Davis has served as an independent contractor with the State of Illinois, Department of Children and Family Services, and as a facilitator for Clinical Intervention for Placement Preservation staffings. In 2015, he earned the President's Award from the Chicago Association of Black Social Workers at the 45th Anniversary Awards and Scholarship Banquet held at Kennedy King College in Chicago. Davis is also president of The African American Alumni Association of North Central College.
