Asemic Writing: For Your Interpretation
Catherine Keebler, Pat Lagger and Michele Thrane
"Asemic Writing: For Your Interpretation"
December 9, 2018-January 30, 2019
Catherine Keebler, Pat Lagger and Michele Thrane each practice a form of "asemic writing" in their art. Their work features invented forms that invite the viewer to see seeming-symbols that evoke real letters, real musical notation and real scientific equations. Asemic writing is, thus, a kind of made-up calligraphy. Each artist has a unique style and way of creating these gestural abstractions that remind the viewer of words, musical notes and scientific symbols.
